Women’s Self-Defense – Saturday (DE)

May 27, 2017 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Magen Woman's Self Defense

Due to the rising number of assaults against women (rape, sexual assaults, robbery, pick pocketing, bag snatching, etc.), we at Magen have developed a special training program designated for women’s self-defense. Women’s Self-Defense training has been developed and is designated for women only, meeting the “outside world” requirements. Women’s Self-Defense training combines practical exercises derived from various martial arts, mostly Krav Maga. At Magen you shall learn how to protect yourself anywhere and anytime, applying a combination of your strength, mind, agility, craftiness and firmness, your voice and any other available element at a given time. We place special emphasis on improvement of mental fortitude, self-confidence and body-image.

Krav Maga is a freestyle form of self-defense that originated in Israel. The philosophy of this fighting style emphasizes the neutralization of threats by simultaneously utilizing defensive and offensive maneuvers and aggression. Situational awareness is developed to gain a sense of one’s surroundings and to assess circumstances with an aim to end potentially violent situations before they occur, using both physical and verbal methodologies. The main objective of Krav Maga training as taught by Magen is the total neutralization of the opponent, while using only the force necessary to subdue the enemy.

The most significant principles of Women’s Self-Defense training are as follow:

  • Basic protection against an intensive attack (performing basic self-defense actions against a wide range of possible assaults)
  • Taking advantage of dominant qualities (the trainee will learn how to make use of all the tools available to her: voice, agility, mind, manipulating ability etc.)
